UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will defend his title for the 7th time when he faces former WEC champion Carlos Condit. St. Pierre was originally slated to face Nick Diaz to unify the UFC and Strikeforce welterweight championships, but Diaz was pulled from the bout after failing to appear at both the Canadian and Las Vegas press conferences to promote UFC 137.

UFC 137 was meant to be Nick Diaz’s return to the UFC after leaving the promotion in 2006. During that span Diaz went an impressive 12-1 fighting in some of the world’s top fighting organizations. St. Pierre most recently defended his title at UFC 129 in a five-round bout with Diaz’s Team Gracie teammate Jake Shields.

There is nowhere Condit has an advantage over GSP, but there are a few large disadvantages like his Wrestling. The only way Condit wins this fight is if GSP makes a huge mistake and Carlos is quick enough to spot it. Watch UFC 137 Live Stream online.

Let’s face it, Georges has been completely dominating each and every round against the top WW’s in the world. Condit has not. If GSP had been in a scrap or 2 showing a weakness that could be exploited by a better version of the last fighter who showed the way, I could see some optimism, but that’s not the case.

In the co-main, the legendary B.J. Penn will be taking on the enigmatic Nick Diaz. St-Pierre was originally scheduled to take on Diaz while Penn was set to take on Condit, but due to the shenanigans of Diaz, the UFC was forced to pull the old switcheroo.

Also in action: the unflappable Roy Nelson will be taking on aging legend Mirko “Cro Cop” in one of two heavyweight tilts; the other being a scrap between hard hitting gatekeeper Cheick Kongo and undefeated up and comer Matt Mitrione.

Rounding out the main card is a featherweight battle between No. 2 ranked in the world Hatsu Hioki—who will be making his UFC debut—vs. the formidable and hard-hitting but streaky George Roop.

After nearly a 24-hour period of speculation on Diaz’s future with the promotion, it was announced he will now face Carlos Condit’s original opponent in former champion B.J. Penn.
